The Bates family started farming in the Griswold, Iowa area in the 1940’s and the Bates family is still farming today. Dennis Bates was always looking for a deal and an occasional treasure. Dennis Bates loved going to auctions. There wasn’t an auction he didn’t come home without something. The boys would go with their Grampa and Dad and were runners and helped loading and bringing home Trucks, Tractors, and well almost anything. International Tractors were a favorite, and the auction has 100 antique tractors and MANY International tractors and trucks. Dennis Bates would also buy out Dealerships that were closing and get parts and some advertising. The auction has an assortment of NOS Chevrolet, Pontiac, and GMC Advertising. Along the timeline, Dennis started buying Classic and Vintage trucks. The collection has everything from Douglas to Mack trucks, and many pickups that would be great for restore or projects.
