U.S. Navy shaft RPM transmitter, Type T-8, serial number 711. Manufactured in May 1941 by the Electric Tachometer Corporation of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Designed to transmit propeller shaft speed data from the engine room to monitoring stations aboard naval vessels. An excellent piece of WWII naval engineering for collectors, maritime exhibits, or historic display.
